General

What do I bring to my child's appointment?

Please bring:

  • Medicare card
  • Referral letter and/or other specialist letters
  • Medication list / Medications
  • Red book (QLD) / Blue Book (NSW)
  • Any relevant reports from school and allied health
  • NDIS plans
  • Pathology results and imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound)
  • Documents / completed questionnaire sent out prior to appointments
Can I use a referral addressed for another Paediatrician?

Yes. You can use your referral for any specialist to review your child as long as it hasn't expired or been used previously.

Do you provide telehealth?

We see our patients face to face. However, telehealth may be provided at the doctor's discretion to our rural/regional patients for planned review (not initial) visits.

What if I am running late or miss an appointment?

We understand life can get messy especially with children. If you are running late, please call us as soon as possible to make arrangement to see your child either same day or organise an alternate time / day.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your child's appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. A non-attendance fee may be charged if you don't attend without sufficient notice. If you fail to attend consecutive appointments, we may require a prepayment or you may be discharged back to your referring doctor for care.

What are your fees?

Please contact us via email or phone. This will help us understand your needs and provide the right options for you.

Do you bulk-bill?

Paedix is a private clinic and we do not bulk-bill. Full payment is required on the day of your appointment via card or EFTPOS. If you are eligible, a Medicare rebate can be submitted to your registered bank account.

Do you submit my claim to Medicare?

Where there is a valid referral and the patient as well as the parent (if patient is a minor) has a current Medicare card, we can submit your claim to Medicare. There are occasional systems disruptions that may interrupt the submission process. If you haven't received the rebate in your account after a week, please feel free to call us to check. We only have limited visibility if Medicare has withheld the rebate and you may have to contact Medicare directly in these circumstances.

General Paediatrics

Do I need a referral for a paediatric consult?

Most private paediatric consultations need a valid GP referral for Medicare rebates. Contact us if you are unsure.

What concerns do you commonly help with?

Developmental and behavioural concerns, growth, feeding, sleep, school issues, and a wide range of acute and chronic paediatric conditions.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Telehealth is available for suitable follow-ups and for rural patients where clinically appropriate.

Allergy & Immunology

What happens in allergy testing?

After assessment, your specialist may recommend skin prick testing or other investigations. Testing is planned carefully and explained so your family knows what to expect.

What is a supervised food challenge?

A supervised oral food challenge helps confirm or rule out a food allergy in a controlled clinic setting with our nursing team, usually after specialist assessment and testing.

Will we get an emergency care plan?

Where clinically appropriate, your specialist can help with personalised management and emergency action plans so your family feels confident day to day.

Can I just come in for an Oral Challenge?

To be eligible for an Oral Challenge, you need to be an existing patient having had a prior consult with one of our Allergists. We are unable to book new patients straight into an Oral Challenge without an initial consult as our allergists require their own testing to be done to see if children are eligible to undergo an Oral Challenge.

Can we do an Oral Challenge on the same day as our Initial Consult/Review?

No, we will not be able to do Oral Challenges the day of your Initial Consult/Review. We have designated clinic days where our registered nurse comes in to assist in the Oral Challenge.
